7 June 2010

Hooo-weeh!  I’m busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest! Or something. Anyway, yep, working away on Breygent’s Sci-fi/Horror set, with more sets to follow. I finished a painting commission which I’ll post pictures of soon. It was my largest painting so far and I’m happy with how it turned out.

Oh yeah, my main reason for writing this is to rave about the sketch card stock Veronica and I purchased from Versicolor – excellent quality! I actually prefer it to the high quality Bristol board I usually use, the Copic markers go on so well! I couldnt be happier with it! We bought 150 each with our own designs on the back for signing. Highly recommended!

26 April 2010

Well, I finished the Golden Age Of Comics and Cartoon Sketch sets and am moving on to the Sci-fi/ Horror set now. I’ll also be getting some commissions done and finishing my remaining Project Superpowers cards too. It’s all go here. Finally started watching Lost season 6. I got a new camera too which I’m still getting used to, my first digital SLR. That’s it for now, thanks for reading! ;)

(Not enough sleep!)

29 March 2010

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve updated this page! I finished the Dexter Season 3 set for Breygent and the Dawn set for Dynamic Forces and am currently working on the Golden Age Of Comics series for Breygent. I’ve started using reference photos of myself and friends to make it more interesting! :)

Here’s my friend Shane (another sketch card artist) as The Bogey Man!

17 December 2009

Our lovely girl Wolfie passed away on the 4th of December. We really miss her but are so grateful for the 13 years we knew her. Rest in peace Wolfie.

29 August 2009

I have until the 18th of September to as many Dexter sample cards as I can. At the moment that means I can work on Dexter for 3 days a week. I’m up to seven right now but hope to have at least 35 to submit for approval by the powers that be. It’s such a good show, roll on season 4!

26 August 2009

Just discovered the lovely Julie Benz who plays Rita in ‘Dexter’ is on Twitter. Unless of course it’s some fat sweaty guy in his parents basement PRETENDING to be the lovely Julie Benz who plays Rita in ‘Dexter’. I’ll be an optimist and hit ‘follow’.

26 August 2009

Added a nice categories widget so it’s easier to browse through various movies or television shows, etc. Lashing rain out now (2:15am) and more forecast for tomorrow. I’ve stopped hoping for some nice weather, this is the third crappy summer in a row! I’m not one for heatwaves and spending all day on the beach but rain, rain and more rain is just gloomy.
Good weather for working though!

25 August 2009

Working on more Dexter sample cards for September.

12 August 2009

Returned my commission prices to normal, economic crisis and all that.

7 August 2009

I’m working on this joker painting at the moment, it should be done in a day or two, lots of detail in the hair to do.

Aug06_JokerWIP

It will be for sale on eBay before the end of the week!

5 August 2009

I dropped my commission prices by $5 – economic crisis and all that.

28 July 2009

Wow, it’s been a while since I wrote anything here. Let me see.

We’ve been watching lots of Dexter, an episode or two every night. Good stuff, the writing is great! I’m whittling away at the sketch cards for the official season 3 set for Breygent, in between doing cards to sell on ebay. The car needs new tires with all the driving we do to the post office! :D
Saw this photo of Christopher Reeve as the evil Superman the other day, from Superman III, and thought how cool it would be to see a whole movie of a pissed off Superman, clipping Wolverine’s claws, taking Ironman apart with a tin opener or brushing Spiderman out of his fortress with a broom! Christopher Reeve looks so grim in this photo, it’s too funny!

Evil_Superman

I have more Joker paintings on the way too, it’s nice to take a break from the wee sketch cards and work on bigger pictures. Veronica is still producing amazing super-heroine cards and persuaded me to do a Halle berry Catwoman card, which turned out pretty well.

I had to uninstall Firefox 3.5 as it was acting all weird opening tabs. I’m back to version 3.0.12 and it’s all good.

I’m not playing ANY video games these days and feel better for it. Metal Gear Solid can be seriously annoying and I don’t miss it at all now. Honest. Really! :/

Anyhoo, that’s all I can think of at the moment. I’ve been up for 36 hours straight now due to serious insomnia. I’ll go watch another Dexter and try to sleep. Goodnight!

31 May 2009

I’ll be working on a American Civil War card set for Barrington Cards soon, it will be interesting learning more about the historic conflict. I have 19 more cards to do for Project Superpowers.

For kicks I play Metal Gear Online, which can be great fun or frustrating as hell!

25 May 2009

I’m nearly finished my 110 ‘Project Superpowers’ sketch cards and getting ready to forge ahead with Breygent’s ‘Dexter’ set. I’m hoping to do more Joker paintings soon and more commissions too. Feel free to contact me!

DEXTER (Season 2)

12 Apr 2009

I finished the 25 ‘Army Of Darkness’ cards and am working away at the ‘Project Superpowers’ set.

29 Mar 2009

I got the blank sketch cards from Dynamic Forces on Friday and am working away! I have 25 ‘Army Of Darkness’ cards to do and will be working on those on Saturdays. Yesterday I got six cards done in ink and two of those coloured. Today I’m starting on ‘Project Superpowers’.
I added new Copic marker demos to the video page too, I hope you find them useful or just interesting to watch!

21 Mar 2009

My cards finally made it to Breygent and will be released with the Vintage Movie Poster set this Monday! I spoke to Nick Barrucci at Dynamic Forces today and I’ll soon be working on Project Superpowers, Army Of Darkness and Dawn sketch cards! Lots of work ahead – bring it on!!

10 Mar 2009

Phew, I finally finished my 41 cards for Breygent. I signed them all and posted them off yesterday. Now back to Joker!

27 Feb 2009

9 cards done for Breygent and 26 to go! Working long hours and putting in a lot of detail. I’m enjoying working on these retro poster cards, some of them are really cool and bizarre! It’s just past 5am so I’m going to totter off to sleepyland now, g’night.

22 Feb 2009

I’ve started a new blog called ‘My First Sketch Card Gig‘ so you can follow the progression of this Breygent series I’ll be working on. Feel free to ask questions or give feedback!

21 Feb 2009

Great news! I got my first official sketch card job yesterday from Breygent! They do really nice cards of The Wizard Of Oz, Marilyn Monroe and more. The series I’ll be doing 30 cards for is retro horror and sci-fi movie posters! I can’t wait to get started! I’ll post my efforts here as they’re approved! Cheers!

Got a great message on twitter today (yep, I reactivated my account) from Wendy and Lisa – they got the sketch cards I sent them! Check out the photo they posted here: photo I’m a long time fan of their great music so its cool to know they liked them!
No other news really, just getting through the work week. I bought Unreal Tournament 3 for PC, strictly for weekends! Honest!!

28 Jan 2009

Joker no.38 done and dusted, should get to 100 by the end of the summer. Added sketch cards of my two favourite ladies – Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman. Loving the new album! I’m working on three new video demos – Joker, Wendy and Lisa. These last two are similar but I’ll be adding more as I do them. Nice to see the evenings slowly brightening!

17 Jan 2009

The end of a productive week! Glad to say I’m getting faster despite the details and line milage. We could have snow over the weekend, which would be great. I’ve another Joker painting lined up so I look forward to working on that next week. Veronica is doing some great sketch cards lately, I’ll ask her to update her blog.

13 Jan 2009

Hope 2009 is going well for you! I’m off to a slow start myself. I deleted my Twitter account the other day as I was spending far too much time posting useless information like ‘making tea now’ and ‘going to bed soon’ etc. If I have anything really interesting to share I’ll stick it here. Everytime I start up Firefox I still automatically go for the twitter shortcut on my speed dial! I miss it. Maybe I’ll open another account…. *slaps face hard* Phew, that’s better!

1 Jan 2009

Happy New Year all, I hope 2009 is a great year for you! I’m working on more Joker cards at the moment. Hopefully I’ll get a gig with Topps or Strictly Ink this year, that would be cool. Thanks for stopping by!

12 Dec 2008

Phew, finally got more Copic markers in the post there, I was practically wringing the ink from some of my most used colours! I now have some coloured multiliners too so it should be interesting to see how the next couple of sketch cards go.
I was sad to hear about the passing of Bettie Page, she was a stunner!

4 Dec 2008

Thanks to everyone who has left comments on the Joker colouring movie, I will add more over time. I’m going to be offering limited edition prints of my sketch cards on eBay soon too so if you’re out-bid on an original you can still pick up a high quality signed print.
Cheers for now!

1 Dec 2008

Okay, nearly have the first ‘colouring with copic markers’ demo video ready. I’m just going to add some narration. It should be about 10 minutes.

22 Nov 2008

I recorded myself colouring my latest Batman card ‘Joker’s Interrogation’ with Copic markers. It’s 2 hours long so I’ll have to do some whittling!

17 Nov 2008

Got new camcorder today, now I just have to figure out how I’m going to do this demo thing! I’ll probably hook up some kind of clamp to a drawing board and keep the camcorder locked on the piece as I colour it, then cut in some wry banter! ;P

Might start with a Joker card, they’re always fun to work on.

‘Help me Obi-Wan!’ —>

15 Nov 2008

Well, I had to buy my camcorder from another place as the guy on eBay turned out to be dodgy. It happens. I’m hoping to receive it next week and get taping some demos! I’ll be working on some Hammer Horror cards this week and of course some Joker and LOTR cards too!

21 Oct 2008

Still waiting on my camcorder so no Copic demos just yet. I’m really happy with the response to my horror themed work on Deviant Art. I thought I’d do a run of monsters and madmen for the run-up to Halloween and people are getting a kick out of them!

02 Oct 2008

Back to the sketch cards now, I like to mix it up! ;D
My new camcorder is on the way so I’ll hopefully get some Copic marker demos up on the site soon.

‘And action!’

23 Sept 2008

I just got more flash work to do so art is on hold for a few days. I’m hoping to buy a new camcorder soon so I might put up some demos of me using Copic markers, just to give anyone who may be considering buying some a chance to see them in action.
Check out this great website for tutorials and ideas: ‘I Like Markers’

21 Sept 2008

The AT-ATs painting is done, looks good I think. This week I’m going to try some seascapes.

19 Sept 2008

I’m working on a small Star Wars painting now, AT-ATs in the snow. It’s on a 5 x 10 inch deep-edge canvas, in acrylics. The background is all done but now I have the detailed AT-ATs to tackle!

11 Sept 2008

Finally have my website up to speed. 2 hours of posting, phew, where’s the coffee?

08 Sept 2008

Finally finished my second Joker painting and added it to the store page. I was busy all week with flash work but it’s all wrapped up now. I’m really looking forward to doing more sketch cards!

29 Aug 2008

I’m working on another Joker painting at the moment. It’s going well, probably another two days left on it. The canvas is roughly 36 inches in width and 12 inches in height, giving it a cool widescreen look.

23 Aug 2008

Well, I’m updating this new website with the help of my website guru brother Paul! Only 80 more posts to upload! Aaaargh!
